Summary
The book is dedicated to the everyday culture of Bulgarians in the last years before the new 21st millennium. It is a kind of continuation of the 1997 book "Goodbye, Dinosaurs, Welcome, Crocodiles! Ethnology of Change", also published by the Academic Publishing House "Prof. Marin Drinov" and published in English and Serbo-Croatian in prestigious foreign scientific series. The unifying beginning of the 15 studies in the work is the economic crisis, which came in place of the enthusiasm and euphoria of political change and mass political protests after 1989. The crisis and its cultural manifestations are revealed both in the lives of those most affected by it - ordinary people, and those in power or the economically powerful of the day. How do the mass media react to the crisis or how do old cultural forms and stereotypes adapt to the new conditions; why and how new folklore traditions or chalga appear - these and a number of other questions arising in the "hot tracks" of cultural events seek their scientific answer in the book.
