Summary

The work “The Dialect of the Bulgarians in Rahovec, Prizren Region” is a study of the dialect in the town of Rahovec, Republic of Kosovo – a small town located about 20 km northwest of Prizren. In the region, the locals are known as “Bugarski” or “Bulgari” because of the history of their historical affiliation to Bulgaria, for which there are different views. Their speech is also known as “Bulgarian” or “Bugarishtja”. My first contact with him took place at the bus station in Prizren, when I was spoken there by a person speaking a Bulgarian dialect, extremely close to the Western colloquial version of the Bulgarian literary language. When I asked him “How do you know Bulgarian?”, He replied: “I am from Rahovets.”
