The volume, under the general title "Macedonia. Travelogues," includes both Vasil Kanchov's most famous travelogues and his earlier short articles written in the same genre, which are being republished for the first time. With their rich, objective, and hitherto undisputed information about the region, its history and economic situation, and the overall material and spiritual life of the Macedonian Bulgarians, V. Kanchov's travelogues remain among the most valuable studies on Macedonia in our scientific literature. In addition to the preserved specific data, they reveal a broad panorama of folk life at the end of the 19th century and the spirit of that bygone era of our national historical development.
