Summary
The monograph ‘Public Transfers and Fragmented Agriculture. Structure, concentration and spatial variation of support in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship in 2014–2022’ is devoted to an economic analysis of public support for agriculture in a region with one of the most fragmented agricultural structures in the European Union. The study is based on an analysis of the relevant literature, data from the Podkarpackie Regional Branch of the Agency for Restructuring and Modernisation of Agriculture (ARiMR) and the Marshal’s Office of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, supplemented by official statistics. The authors classify transfers according to
their economic function and assess their trends in nominal, real and euro terms. They also measure the concentration of support across districts and municipalities and examine its links with the agricultural structure and changes in livestock numbers. The results show that area-based payments supporting income predominated, whilst investment support was highly selective and went mainly to a small number of farms with an area of at least 10 ha. This monograph is intended for researchers and academics specialising in agricultural economics, public policy, agricultural policy and rural development, as well as for students of economics and agricultural sciences. It may also be useful for public administration staff, institutions implementing the Common Agricultural Policy, local authorities and agricultural advisory services.
